Descripción del producto
Low Melting Point Nylon 6/66 Copolymer
Product Overview

Our Low Melting Point Nylon 6/66 Copolymer is a specialized engineering thermoplastic produced through the copolymerization of Nylon 6 and Nylon 6,6 monomers. By precisely controlling the copolymer ratio, this material exhibits a significantly reduced melting point (typically ranging from 110°C to 160°C) compared to standard Nylon 6 (220°C) or Nylon 6,6 (260°C), while retaining the excellent toughness, chemical resistance, and adhesion properties of polyamides.

This unique combination of low melt temperature and high performance makes it an ideal choice for hot melt adhesives, thermal bonding fibers, low-temperature coatings, and co-extrusion applications. It is available in various forms including pellets, chips, powder, and spun fibers to suit different processing requirements.

Applications

1. Textile & Nonwovens Industry

  • Thermal Bonding Fibers: Used as a bicomponent fiber (sheath-core) or 100% low-melt fiber in nonwoven production (needle punch, thermal calender, air-through bonding). The low-melt component melts and bonds the matrix fibers together without damaging them.

  • End Products: Interlinings, automotive interiors (headliners, trunk liners), insulation batting, filtration media, disposable hygiene products, wipes.

  • Fabric Lamination: Acts as a hot melt adhesive web or powder for bonding fabric layers (e.g., sportswear, outerwear) without stiffening the material.

2. Hot Melt Adhesives (HMA)

  • Application: Used as a base polymer for formulating high-performance hot melt adhesives in pellets or powder form.

  • End Products: Shoe industry (bonding soles/uppers), bookbinding, woodworking (edge banding), packaging, automotive assembly, electronics encapsulation.

  • Why Nylon 6/66: Provides superior bond strength and heat resistance compared to EVA or polyolefin-based hot melts.

3. Coating & Laminating

  • Powder Coating: Applied via electrostatic spray or scatter coating to substrates like metal, glass, or textiles. After heating, the powder melts and forms a tough, protective, and often transparent coating.

  • Extrusion Coating: Co-extruded onto films or fabrics to provide heat-sealable layers or barrier properties.

4. Automotive Industry

  • Application: Used in interior trim bonding, cable wrapping, filtration media, and as a coating for airbags.

  • Benefit: Low processing temperature protects sensitive electronic components and lightweight fabrics; excellent fuel and oil resistance ensure long-term durability.

5. Footwear & Leather Goods

  • Application: Employed as a hot melt adhesive film or powder for bonding leather, synthetics, and textiles in shoe manufacturing (toe puffs, counters, lasting).

  • Benefit: Creates flexible, washable, and dry-cleanable bonds; eliminates solvents for eco-friendly production.

6. Packaging Industry

  • Application: Used in corrugated box sealing, tray forming, and label adhesion where high heat resistance of the final bond is required (e.g., food packaging that undergoes pasteurization).

  • Benefit: Withstands higher service temperatures than standard hot melts.

7. 3D Printing (Filament)

  • Application: Processed into filament for FDM/FFF 3D printers.

  • Benefit: Lower printing temperature reduces warping and makes printing with nylon easier on desktop printers; parts exhibit excellent layer adhesion and toughness.

8. Electronics

  • Application: Used as a potting compound or encapsulant for sensitive electronic components.

  • Benefit: Low application temperature prevents heat damage to components; provides excellent moisture and chemical resistance.
